Mistrial declared in Raya's case, another date set for December

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - A jury couldn’t reach a unanimous decision in the case against a Palisade man accused of molesting a young child.

A mistrial has been declared against Michael Raya.

His jury trial started Monday and the jury began deliberating Wednesday.

Authorities say the 40–year-old forced a 6–year-old girl to perform sex acts on him.

The victim, who is now 7-years-old testified during the trial.

The District Attorney’s office tells 11 News another trial has been scheduled for late December.
