The Grand Junction Fire Department welcomed new members to the team on Friday.

After 10 weeks of training the 2009 Recruit Fire Academy Celebrated Graduation. Recruits got their official firefighter badges, which were pinned on by family members.

The three new firefighters haven't been assigned to a station yet. Fire Officials say with the new editions they are now very close to being fully staffed. The new firefighters say they are just happy to be part of the team.

Training academy usually lasts about three months but because of the size of this class they were able to finish several weeks early.
