GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - A small business management class at Mesa State inspired a marketing major to follow her passion for fashion on Facebook.
Amber Rich is a marketing major at Mesa State. She's an eccentric dresser and has always had a love for fashion.
"I've had a passion for clothes since I was a little girl," says Rich.
Fashion forward Rich recently enrolled in a small business management class. Her assignment, to create and sustain a profitable business on the Internet.
"It's really nice because I'm using what I'm learning in the classroom everyday and applying it to stuff that really interests me," she says.
Rich hunts all over Grand Junction for unwanted items at thrift stores, estate sales and garage sales.
"I've been collecting or making or altering over the past couple of years," says Rich.
Rich takes her finds, puts her spin on things and creates one-of-a-kind must-have fashions. She says it's affordable, wearable art.
To the surprise of her teachers and herself, her class assignment turned out to be a lucrative Internet business.
"That's where the customers are and that's where they want to shop," says Rich.
For Rich, she's excited her passion turned out to be profitable.
"It's not easy to get a lot for work now as everyone knows, so this is something I can do that I like and make some extra cash," says Rich.
