GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)- This weekend 11 News told you about a man who volunteered to camp out to help us reach our goal in the 11 Cares for Families Christmas Food Drive.

Mike Strasser wanted to collect 5,000 pounds of food by Tuesday night, but so far he's only been able to collect 1,400 pounds.

He said he hasn't seen many people in the overnight hours so he packed up his tent, but he'll still be collecting food until late evening.

Strasser says, "For two days 1100 pounds isn't too bad. I was hoping for more and I'm still hoping for more. I'm hoping our doors are knocked off the walls we have so much food."

To help Mike meet his goal visit him at Amerigas at 690 Railroad Blvd. just off Highway 6 and 50.

If you're not already an Amerigas customer, and you bring in 25 items, he'll give you a coupon for $25 off. And if you're an existing customer, 25 items will get you $35 off your next bill.
