GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - It's a busy season for the Salvation Army, and extra space is a hot commodity.

To get some elbow room the Salvation Army is temporarily moving its Christmas headquarters to the National Guard Armory on Riverside Parkway behind the Regional Center.

They say they just don't have enough room at their facility to accommodate all the canned goods and toys for Christmas. During Thanksgiving, the number of families that registered increased by a few hundred and they're expecting the same for Christmas.

"Last year, I think we have a little over 1,400 families. Already we have 900 families registered this year and there are still two weeks to register for the holiday season. We think we will have over 1,600 families represented," says Dan Wilson, Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army says the National Guard Armory, located at 2810 Riverside Parkway Drive, has more than enough room to accommodate of their holiday needs.
