GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Local businesses are getting more confident about the economy, but a huge number of them still worry it may not get better soon.
The Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce asked all businesses to enter an online survey and a third of them have responded back so far.
Nearly 80 percent of them said the local economy was weak, but most of them expected their sales to stay the same or increase into the next year.
While the survey shows must businesses are calling the economy grim, the numbers have improved a bit from last year.
A quarter of the businesses expect to lay people off but half of them expect their sales to improve by the middle of next year.
