GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - This holiday season brought a little something extra for one Grand Junction family.
Family members eagerly awaited the arrival of Corporal David Tate at Grand Junction Regional Airport Wednesday night.
Tate was greeted with smiles, hugs and tears of joy by his grandparents and mother.
He was granted a leave of absence from the war for a chance to come home and spend some much needed time with his family and friends.
"I'm just happy to be home. There's not all of us that made it back so I hope to enjoy my time here which some of those marines and service members over there cannot enjoy. I truly send my truest respects to the families of those marines and service members that did not make it back," he says.
After spending some time on vacation relaxing, Tate will finish his tour of duty in Japan.
