The Mesa County Republican Women's Christmas Cheer luncheon was the stage for republicans Barbara Brewer and Bob Hislop. Barbara Brewer announced that she is running for re–election as county assessor and newcomer Bob Hislop is running for House Seat 54.
Hislop says that one of his top priorities is streamlining the oil and gas industry. "It takes 6 to 8 months to get a gas drilling permit here in Colorado; the same permit in Louisiana takes 4–5 days and in Texas takes 10–15 days," says Hislop.
Even though this is the first office Hislop is running for he is not new to the campaign circuit. He served under Ronald Regan as a secret service agent.
