GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Some Grand Junction Police Officers swapped their badges and guns for bowling balls and bowling shoes Monday and spent some time bowling with kids.

It was the 10th Annual Bowl With A Cop event at Orchard Mesa Lanes. About 100 kids spent the morning bowling for free and getting to know our local officers. The cops say they have just as much fun as the kids do.

"Anytime we can not be in the stereotypical mode of law enforcement and kind of let our hair down, no pun intended, it's a positive thing for kids and we have a blast doing it," says Grand Junction Police Officer Jeff Grady.

This year the Bowl With A Cop event targeted middle school kids but all kids were welcome. Officers say they're already planning next year's event.
