GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - A local family is making sure kids without a home don't miss out on holiday cheer this year.

After baking all weekend, Monday was time for the Burns family to share their goodies.

Taeja Burns said she enjoys making people happy who don't have very much so she and her sister gave cookies and stuffed animals to children at the homeless shelter.

Taeja and Brianna's parents say this way they learn to appreciate how fortunate they truly are.

Santa even made an appearance for the children at the shelter. In addition to the gifts the Burns gave out, each child received a stocking, teddy bear and wrapped present.

The Burns hope it's a lesson their daughters will take with them for the rest of their lives.
