GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)- One wife likely won't be upset with her Christmas present this year.

In hopes of being romantic and wooing the wife, husband Brent Colosky bought his wife a pair of gold hoop earrings, and luckily he found the perfect pair even as a last minute shopper.

Colosky wasn't the only person trying buy Christmas presents on a deadline. Mesa Jewelers expected to see hundreds of shoppers on Christmas Eve.

Gerry Jensen with Mesa Jewelers helped Colosky pick out his wife's gift, and says they saw a lot of men buying gifts for that special someone.

He also says the person getting those last minute gifts usually ends up better off, than getting a gift from someone who took a lot of time planning what to buy. Jensen says the men "are going to buy pretty much whatever the girl wants cause their backs are against the wall."

Jensen says even in this economy, this year people aren't holding back on making big purchases.

Although people may be willing to shell out the money for presents, a lot of last minute shoppers couldn't find that perfect gift. They said a lot of items they were looking for were sold out.

Colosky's Christmas Eve shopping was successful, and his wife is going to have to wait until Christmas day to see what else she'll be receiving from him.
