MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO)- A slew of burglaries struck all parts of Mesa County this weekend.

The burglaries are not suspected to be related but nonetheless, between the Sheriff's Office and Police Department, they responded to 6 break-ins this weekend.

Saturday night, the Mesa County Sheriff's Office responded to 2 of the burglaries. One in the Candlewood neighboorhood of Clifton and the other at Appleton Elementary School.

The robbers tried to steal a Play Station 3 at the Candlewood break-in, but dropped it when the resident chased them down the street.

The Appleton burglary is still under investigation, and the Sheriff's Office doesn't know whether it was just an act of vandalism or if the suspects stole any valuables from the school.

To protect yourself from being a victim to a burglary, officials suggest keeping your valuables out of plain sight, locking your doors, not telling people if you are going out of town, and leaving your porch light on.
