MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) - Do you know an outstanding teen with a heart of gold?

The Mesa County Teen Leadership Commission is looking to find the next group of young people wanting to make the community a better place.

Those who have participated say they want to have input on the important decisions made in the community because those decisions affect everyone, not just the adults who make them.

County Administrator Jon Peacock says, “The Teen Leadership Commission is an opportunity for us to get input from teens about what are issues that are important to them, what are things we should be paying attention to for this generation as city government.”

The Teen Leadership Commission is accepting applications until Monday, Jan 11.

To qualify for the group you must live in Mesa County, be in 8th through 12th grades and be able to commit at least six hours each month to the group.
