CLIFTON, Colo. (KKCO) - The Mesa County Coroner's Office has finished its autopsy on the man that died Saturday morning in a house fire on Gunnison Avenue in Clifton.
The Coroner's Office says the cause of death for 45–year–old Bruce Staats is thermal burns and ruled his death an accident.
The victim's wife, Debbie, says she found her husband Bruce on fire in a room he referred to as his "man cave." She says she tried to put the flames out with a fire extinguisher but couldn't.
Fire officials say the fire was so intense they are having a hard time finding the cause and have sent samples to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation for further testing.
Staats worked as an over-the-road truck driver.
The fire caused around $65,000 worth of damage to the home at 3034 Gunnison Avenue in Clifton.
