GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - If your original New Year’s resolution isn’t working out then perhaps you should think about improving the life of a child instead.
Mesa County Partners is hoping you can help out in National Mentoring Month and give up some time in your life to help out someone else.
Mesa County Partners is hoping they can get as many mentors as possible while the amount of kids who need guidance continues to increase.
Partners officials say they have more than 50 kids on their waiting list, hoping to get an adult mentor in their lives.
If you decide you want to become a mentor, you will go through a background check and be interviewed by Partners. The reasons for this are to see if you would be a good fit as a mentor and then Partners will try to pair you up with a child who likes to do the same things you do, whether it’s play video games or go shopping or even hit the slopes.
All you need to give up is about two or three hours a week to make a major difference in the life of a child.
