ORCHARD MESA, Colo. (KKCO) - The Mesa County Coroner's Office has ruled the death of a 20-year-old man a homicide.

The victim has been identified as Ramon E Sandoval of Grand Junction.
The coroner says his cause of death is a stab wound to the stomach.

Sandoval's body was found Saturday morning in a parking lot of the Monument Ridge Townhomes off 2680 B 1/2 Road.

Sandoval's cousin Joey Martinez tells 11 News that he had a big heart and didn't deserve to die. Martinez also says that his cousin had a troubled past including a few assaults and that people did have it out for him. Sandoval also lost his mother and was raised by his aunt.

The Grand Junction Police Department and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation are looking into the murder. So far no arrests have been made.

Martinez says he was at a small party across town with Sandoval on Friday night and doesn't know why he would have been at the Monument Ridge Townhomes.

Anyone with information is asked to call police immediately at 242-6707.
