GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Ladies know how important it is to match shoes with purses, but at what cost? Fortunately, one local woman is making it affordable to have a closet full of different purses.
It's a bag that a young mom in Salt Lake City invented after she spilled something on her favorite purse. She designed a system that uses magnetic covers to change the look of your purse and make it different everyday, without having to buy a new purse.
Now one local woman is making a bundle selling these bags on the Western Slope and says the fashionable business is great for moms. Marilyn Hall has owned Sassy Fashions for years and she says she knows what women want.
"You can have a purse for every occasion," she says. In October, she saw a new product that caught her eye.
"I was at the car wash and I picked up a newspaper, not a local newspaper. Someone just must have dropped it there and there was an ad for Miche bags," says Hall.
Intrigued, she looked up Miche bags online. She liked what she saw and talked to her husband about making an investment to become a distributor.
"And he said 'do it honey.' It's a great project and you've always known what's a great product and quality," says Hall.
Within two weeks, she had the Miche bag in her hand. "And we were rocking and rolling on the Western Slope," says Hall.
The Miche small base bag runs for $30. There are 40 shells to choose from, running anywhere from $19.95 to $24.95. The big bag costs $35 and has 12 shells to pick from, that cost between $35 and $39. You can switch out straps, too.
"We get new things every month for the same bag. So it's the perfect product for a woman that wants to look good," says Hall.
Hall says Miche bags have done incredibly well on the Western Slope. "In a slow economy, we've definitely stimulated the economy here," says Hall.
So well that she won an award for best new distributor. "We had the biggest first month ever in the history of Miche bags," says Hall.
And sine she started in October, she now employs 30 women who sell Miche bags at home parties. "It's a great opportunity for moms. I have a lot of moms. I call them mom-preneurs," says Hall.
For Hall, she says Miche bags hit the Western Slope at just the right time and she feels blessed it's been so successful. "I see a lot of gorgeous things in the future. A lot of new products. The company is always prototyping new things. So I'm very excited about the future of Miche bag," says Hall.
