GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Grand Junction Police have arrested a teenage girl in the murder of 20-year-old Ramon Sandoval.
Officers arrested 19-year-old Amy Adamson-Gonzalez Sunday afternoon on charges of second degree murder.
In a press release, officials said Gonzalez and Sandoval knew each other -- and police were not looking for other suspects. They say their investigation is ongoing and they are not releasing any other details about the case.
In a post made to her MySpace page Sunday, Gonzalez wrote, "I hope that my lady will be okay and I don't know Ramon that well, but R.I.P. bro."
A source close to the investigation tells 11 News that Gonzalez is a lesbian, and the stabbing may have been over another woman. They also say she was wearing a court-ordered tracking device on her ankle when she was taken into custody. Her arrest affidavit is not being released.
Police say Gonzalez stabbed Sandoval in the stomach. His body was discovered by residents of the Monument Ridge Townhomes at 2860 B 1/2 Road Saturday morning. Members of Sandoval's family say they were having a small party across town Friday night and don't know why Ramon would have ended up on Orchard Mesa.
