Source: Weekend stabbing victim and suspect may have had mutual girlfriend

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Police are releasing few details about a fatal weekend stabbing but sources close to the investigation tell 11 News it may have been over a woman.

Officers arrested 19-year-old Amy Adamson Gonzalez Sunday afternoon on charges of second degree murder.

Police believe she stabbed 20-year-old Ramon Sandoval in the stomach then left him face down in an Orchard Mesa neighborhood where his body was discovered Saturday.

Officials say the two knew each other.

Sources tell us Gonzalez is a lesbian and investigators are looking into the possibility that she and Sandoval had a mutual girlfriend.

11 News has also learned Gonzalez was wearing a court-ordered tracking device when she was arrested.
