FRUITA, Colo (KKCO)-- Hope of the Grand Valley is looking for families to adopt this Christmas season.
he organization is focusing on our employed working families that are underemployed, or barely surviving, in an effort to not duplicate services and provide for more families in need.
Officials say the Fruita based nonprofit offers the only program for our working poor with children. Due to today's struggles, many of them are working two jobs and trying to live paycheck to paycheck. Hence, they qualify for little, if any, government assistance. They may receive a very small amount in food stamps, but they must pay their rent, house payments, insurance and bills.
Hope of the Grand Valley is currently accepting applications and personally interviewing each family to ensure their need and ask where the charity can help most. Program organizers say the families are required to complete an application explaining their situation and their family income.
Organizers say without the program, many of them would not have a Christmas, nor will they ask for help.
If you or someone you know might qualify for assistance from Hope of the Grand Valley, please call (970) 778-4880, or visit www.hopegv.org.
