GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- The Mesa County Libraries ask you to make a real difference in people's lives by helping them learn English.

The Adult Literacy Program is seeking volunteers to teach English to people from all over the world. More than 100 people are on the waiting list, and tutors are vital in making their language learning goals possible.

The libraries provide tutoring to hundreds of people from more than 30 countries, helping them with their English skills and preparing them for U.S. citizenship.

You don't have to know another language to be a tutor; the Adult Literacy Center pairs tutors with students at an appropriate language level.

If you want to find out more about volunteering, stop by a tutor information session on March 7, 2013 at 1-2 p.m. or 6-7 p.m. They will be held at the Mesa County Central Library at 655 N. 1st Street. You can also call Karen at 970-683-2431 for more information.
