Avalon Theatre renovation hangs in the balance

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Monday's city council readiness meeting was cancelled due to the passing of council member Harry Butler, which means the Avalon Cornerstone Project will have to wait two more days for their revised renovation plans to be heard.

On Wednesday the city council will hear the new plan from the Cornerstone Project, the Downtown Development Authority, and the city staff. The new plan includes a revised budget of $7.1 million, which the Avalon Project has already raised through fundraising.

If the council votes against the proposal, the plan will be tabled for the immediate future, but it would not mean the end for the Avalon.
