Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) --- After it was approved for renovations back in june, construction on the Avalon Theater will finally begin at the end of this week.
On Thursday at 4 the public is invited to attend a groundbreaking ceremony in front of the iconic theater.
FCI construction will begin work on Friday doing ground and structural preparation for the major remodel.
"We'll be able to re-use many parts of what was in the Avalon," said Department Director Over Economic, Convention and Visitor Services, Debbie Kovalik. "But the chairs will not remain and I think that people will also be happy to know that."
Several of the chairs will be painted by local artists and then placed around town to remind residents the renovation is going on.
