An armed robber is on the run tonight after demanding money from a Main Street store at gunpoint. It happened at the Consign Design furniture store located at 234 Main Street this afternoon.

Authorities say around 2:35 p.m., a man entered the store, showed a handgun, demanded money and fled the area. The store owner and a few customers were in the store at the time of the robbery. Police say some were shaken up, but no one was injured in the incident.

Police say only money was taken but the robber was able to take off on foot, they're not sure in which direction.

"At this point right now, we have officers in the area looking for the suspect. We do not believe he is a danger to the public at this point, but we advise anybody to just not approach him and to give us a call as he is still armed and dangerous," Grand Junction Police Department Sgt. Lonnie Chavez said.

GJPD don’t believe there is a connection between the robber and store, but say there were reports that the suspect smelled like alcohol.

He's being described as a white male with blue eyes and short brown hair, between 30 and 40 years old. He was wearing a navy blue t-shirt and blue jeans, and authorities believe he was carrying a backpack as well.

If you have any information about this incident or the suspect, you're asked to call the non-emergency dispatch number, 970-242-6707.

It should have been an easy task to catch and Arrest this Dirt-bag in the act. (after all, being posted at 1:46 PM, BEFORE THE CRIME being committed at 2:35 PM, is 50 minutes they had to set a Trap) UNLESS of course the time stamp is a typo error, which I suppose is not past the realm of possibility. On a side note: It's only going to get worse with these types of crimes. It always does around this time of year, but more so this year due to the increased continuing fall of the Economy. We all need to be MORE AWARE of what is taking place around us on a Daily basis, and START EXERSIZEING that 2nd Amendment Right. These Dirt-bags aren't going to go away if people continue to turn their backs and allow these crimes to continue. Start standing up, stop them now before YOU or someone YOU know becomes a Victim, or EVEN WORSE, a Statistic.
