Back to school shopping

Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) --- It's that time of year again, time for parents and their kids to hit the stores and load up on school supplies.

Shopping carts at local stores are overflowing with calculators, paper, pens, pencils and folders.

This year, some of the most basic items that parents find on school's suggested items lists, are more expensive than ever.

"Well we dropped a chunk of change like all mom's and dad's do in Grand Junction," says Glade Park resident, Rany Schrader. "We bought a lot of stuff, there's paper and folders and pens and glue and scissors and Kleenex and dividers."

While some local parents say they shop around to find the best deals or re-use old supplies to try to save a buck or two, others say the convenience of doing it all in one place is worth the extra few dollars just to get it out of the way.
