Blood drive to recruit younger donors

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO)- On Tuesday, Oct. 9, Grand Junction High School is accommodating their very first blood drive.

This will also be the first blood drive to happen this year at a Grand Junction high school. Students up to 16 and 17 years of age can donate as long as they have parental permission.

The hope of high school blood drives is to start donors off young and get them to continue donating more blood throughout the years. Blood is always needed, and donations are greatly appreciated.

Thirty high schools sponsor Blood Drives on the Western Slope from Moab to Steamboat Springs. There are also blood drives from Telluride to Aspen and Eagle that continue all throughout the I-70 Corridor.

The drive will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 1 p.m.
