Fruita, Colo (KKCO) --- Construction began on a new trail that will go through the Bookcliff Mountains.

After a decade of planning, the design will create a loop with 18 Road for mountain bikers, motorcycle riders, horses and hikers.

The Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado and other organizations came together to contribute in this weekend event.

Crew Leader and Manager, Bill Cort, said he expects the trail to be completed by summer.

I like the idea of this new trail, but are they going to have the animals and hikers on the same trail as the mechanized riders? It would be more pleasurable for all if there were 2 trails slightly separated. But with so little information being reported who knows what they are doing.
