GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) For the second time this week, a District 51 School is on lockdown because of police activity near the school. The lockdowns were brief and the school district's webpage has been updated to say that all schools were given the 'all clear' just after 11:35 a.m.
According to Heather Benjamin with the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, it’s because of a suspicious person who has been detained. She says deputies are also trying to locate additional people.
There is no threat to the school, the lockdown is simply for student safety.
