CSP cracking down on DUI for St. Patrick's weekend

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Local law enforcement is turning up the heat on DUI enforcement this St. Patrick's weekend.

From March 15 to March 18, Colorado State Patrol is working with local agencies to step up patrols to make sure people do not drive drunk.

Last year, four people died and 424 were arrested across Colorado over St. Patty's weekend.

Colorado Department of Transportation officials remind you that the cost of a cab (on average $20) is much less than the cost of a DUI ($10,000). Additionally, every day in the United States, 27 people die and 863 are injured in alcohol-related crashes.

CDOT says there's no excuse not to get a designated driver or take a taxi.

Both Sunshine Taxi (970-245-8294) and K2 Taxi (970-242-4652) service the Grand Junction area.
