Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – This weekend you have a chance to challenge your skiing and snowboarding endurance at Powderhorn Ski Resort while helping out a good cause.

It's the 17th Annual Ski Challenge, sponsored by Colorado Discover Ability. For the second year in a row, the competition involves the Vertical Challenge.

The challenge is to get in as many runs as you can in one day. The person who skis or boards the most vertical feet on Saturday, Feb. 2, will win the grand prize of a $500 gift certificate to Board and Buckle.

The Vertical Challenge is the winter fundraiser for Colorado Discover Ability. Proceeds will fund scholarships for those with disabilities because those with disabilities already have high medical costs. This makes it difficult for them to afford equipment for outdoor recreation such as skiing.

The event costs $60, which includes your lift ticket, a lunch, prizes, and entrance to a party after the event. Registration starts at 8 a.m., and the Vertical Challenge begins at 9 a.m.

The entire family is welcome. To enter, click the link below, or call the CDA office at 257-1222.
