MESA COUNTY, Colo - Fire Chief Dave Gitchell says there are no indications of an explosion at the site, but did say some tires caught on fire and they can sometimes pop when burning. That may have been where reports of explosions stemmed from as crews responded to the scene Thursday night.

The fire broke out in an unoccupied trailer at 32 and C Road around 9:30 p.m. Crews from the Central Orchard Mesa Fire Department are on scene investigating Friday morning.

They were joined by firefighters from multiple other agencies as they battled the blaze inside the trailer which the Chief says spread to a nearby jeep. Gitchell says no one was injured in the blaze and only about $5,000 in damage was done.
