Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) - Many citizens are upset that Grand Junction City Council did not appeal a decision made by the planning commission. Council voted 5-1, approving the planning commissions’ decision.

The council approved use of the old Gene Taylor building as a Department of Interior office with an expanded area to be used as an outdoor storage area.

Those who live in the El Poso area are upset at council’s decision.

"We've all stated that we do not want this in our neighborhood please don't approve this they are changing the zoning to allow this. we're saying we don't want it," says Douglas Murphy, who lives in the El Poso area.

The council’s approval means the permit allocating use of the area is now allowed.

The only option left for the citizens, is to take the issue before a judge.
