Cold Shivers Point closed for repairs

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – If you’re planning to visit the Colorado National Monument during the week, there’s one popular place you’ll have to skip.

Monument officials are temporarily closing Cold Shivers Point from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The closures start on Oct. 15 and last through Nov. 5.

Education Ranger Briana Board says workers will be making safety repairs and replace railing along the point so visitors can be more secure.

Cold Shivers Point is the first overlook as you drive through the east entrance. The view will not be accessible, but the parking area will remain open. Rim Rock Drive traffic should not be affected.

If you want a good lookout, don’t worry; the Red Rock Canyon Overlook is just a little farther down the road.
