Colorado Mountain Winfest takes over Palisade

Colorado Mountain Winefest is a time when wine connoisseurs and those just looking to sample the delightful drink are brought together to treat their pallets. For many, the day can be summed up in just one word: great.

"Great folk, great wine, great atmosphere. It's a nice place to and gosh, what a gorgeous day," said Denver resident Mary Ball.

Visitors from near and far headed out Saturday for a chance to taste some of the local flavors. Vendors and vineyard owners were pleased to serve the crowd of 5,000.

"It's the biggest weekend of the year for probably all of the wineries. It is for us by far," said Carlson Vineyard owner Parker Carlson.

There were plenty of loyal customers and those tasting for the first time. Local vineyard owners hope to gain business for the season to come.

"Very much so we get a lot of repeat customers because of the festival," said Carlson.

After the day of wining and dining, many try not to leave the event empty-handed.

"More than a couple [bottles of wine]. That's why I brought my 2010 bag so we'd have enough space," said Ball.

The 21st annual Winefest is expected to pull in more revenue this year compared to last.
