GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Hickenlooper's plan to design and strengthen Colorado's mental health system is making strides with the CDHS.
The Colorado Department of Human Services is proposing a coordinated statewide behavioral health crisis response system.
The CDHS is proposing the operation of statewide a 24-hour crisis telephone line, staffed by skilled professionals. They are also proposing regional walk-in crisis stabilization centers and mobile crisis services. Lastly, the implementation of a statewide public information and educational marketing campaign to make the public aware of the new services and to increase community awareness of behavioral illness.
Services will be available to individuals in crisis regardless of their ability to pay.
