GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Support for Christina Powers' family is unwavering with even more money raised in her name Sunday.
About 80 people filled up Applebee's in Grand Junction earlier than normal on a weekend, raising $600 while eating pancakes.
"it's just amazing that the outreach that people just want to help people," said Andrea Hollandsworth, Powers' friend who has been coordinating donation efforts. "Just it makes you realize how much you love your children and how much you cherish your family."
The money will go toward funeral costs for Powers, which are $2000. The community had raised $1000 for the cause prior to the pancake breakfast.
Powers died of pneumonia at the beginning of February leaving behind a two-year-old daughter, a newborn baby, who was delivered premature before she died, and their father.
Friends of Powers have been collecting donations for the family.
Hollandsworth said the family is still in need of a deep freezer for donated breast milk, a booster seat for the two year old as well as children's clothes and diapers.
Donations can be brought to Hollandsworth (970-261-2395) at the Grand Junction Olive Garden parking lot between 10:30 and 11 a.m.
