GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Crossfit Junction hosted its first fundraiser to help at-risk youth shape up their bodies and their lives.
45 people worked out this weekend to benefit Hero Junction, which provides Crossfit exercise classes to 10 to 18 year olds.
"Kids that may have made some wrong decisions along the way, but are on the right path to making better choices," said Joe Crawford, Hero Junction program manager. "And we're helping them stay disciplined through exercise."
Hero Junction made its debut this past June.
The weekend's workout competitions, silent auction and sponsor donations raised $5000 for the new program.
The money will go toward purchasing new equipment, advertising to involve more youth in the program and also toward eventually setting up a separate workout facility for participants.
