District 51 accepting School of Choice applications

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. District 51 began accepting applications Monday for any student who wants to go to a school other than the one they are assigned.

This is the one time a year that families can request to change schools for any reason.

Applications are accepted on a first come first serve basis and honored as long as there is room in the school.

Last year about 1,600 families applied and in the first day this year already more than 700 requests were submitted.

Families without computer access can use a community computer location at the Emerson Administration building or go to your child's school office for help.

The deadline is March 21.
