Dog shot by police after attacking owner

A dog was shot by a Fruita police officer Monday evening.

Around 8 p.m. officers responded to reports of a dog fight on the 100 block of East Lexington Way.

The dog's owner was trying to break up a fight between his two pit bulls and a bull mastiff when the canines turned on him.

He was bitten several times.

When officers arrived on scene they saw the man being attacked and fired three shots.

The bull mastiff was shot and killed.

The other two dogs were unharmed and are back in the care of their owner.

Mesa County Animal Services headed to the scene to assess the situation and decide if they need to press charges.

    Great let me guess less condem the Pits, am I right? How many freekin ppl will no go off on a banter and say that it is the evil dog, and blah blah this and that. It was probably the freekin owner or who knows maybe it was the dog but it sure as hell doesnt count the breed as "Evil". Ok now my voicing is done ☺
