It’s not smoking, underage drinking or drug abuse. The leading cause of death for teens in the United States is auto accidents, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The CDC reports one in three teen deaths is caused from vehicle crashes.
But three local companies are trying to curb those statistics by educating kids who get behind the wheel.
Home Loan and Investment, Moody Valley Insurance and Mountain West Insurance and Financial will conduct their Time2Drive event at Grand Junction High School on Thursday, Sept. 20.
Instructors will teach the importance of safe driving using simulators and interactive education.
Time2Drive starts at 5:30 p.m. and will run until 7:30 p.m. in the GJHS auxiliary gym.
