GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Even with one final Presidential debate looming, numerous voters in Grand Junction have already cast their vote.

"I'd already decided long before any of this was going on," said early voter Susan Leonard. "My decision was made a long time ago; I was never undecided."

Early voting officially opened this morning in five different locations throughout Mesa County, and quite a few made their way to the polls.

"We're seeing a decent amount of people this morning," said Mesa County Clerk Sheila Reiner, "and we're glad to see people coming out while there are no lines."

No lines, quick answers to questions and available staff are just a few of the bonuses to the process. And this first day was a huge benefit to those who already made a decision.

"Early voting is really nice because you don't just have one day," said Leonard. "It's much better than in the days when it was just one day."

"It's just great," said greeter Betty Blevins. "They're anxious about voting, and it's my responsibility as a citizen of the United States to let my voice be heard."

For those who are still on the fence and waiting for Monday evening's final debate, there will still be plenty of time to go to the polls before the official election day on November 6.

The old county courthouse, Clifton Community Hall, the Mesa County Fairgrounds and the Fruita Police Department are all open through Nov. 2 for early voting.

Locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
