LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) Police have contacted the last of several people suspected of vandalizing a Longmont cemetery since early July.
Police Cmdr. Jeff Satur tells the Longmont Times-Call that investigators have spoken with 19-year-old John Heston, one of eight people suspected of damaging more than 150 headstones at Mountain View Cemetery and of pushing a Civil War memorial statue from its pedestal, breaking off the head.
Satur says Heston is out of state, and investigators are trying to convince him to come back to Colorado. The other seven suspects are cooperating with police. Six are juveniles, and the seventh is a 21-year-old man who hasn't been named.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Heston, who is accused of criminal mischief and desecration of a venerated object.
