Firefighters share Thanksgiving with their families

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- Firefighters at Station One downtown made it a family affair since they worked the holiday. The group invited their significant others, children and friends to feast on the traditional turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and more.

"If you've ever been to a fire station, we definitely take pride in our ability to cook. There's a whole lot of cooking. We've been at it all morning with snacks in the morning and then of course, preparing the normal Thanksgiving type meal that everybody and their family is going to enjoy today," firefighter Tyler Nathe said.

The firefighters worked to put the meal together between calls Thursday morning. They say having family over made it feel more like a holiday and less like a typical day at work.
