GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Taste of the Grand Valley is one of the best food celebrations of the year and the crowded convention center proves its popularity.

Hundreds of people toured the exhibits to sample the different cuisines being offered by restaurants, caterers and food vendors. There were door prizes, cooking demonstrations, plenty of balloons and it was all to benefit the United Way of Mesa County.

"Currently we've raised 75% of our fundraising drive and we just need some help to get that last bit," said Amanda Crysler of the United Way of Mesa County.

There were 36 different vendors, making it one of the largest events in years. Officials estimate they raised nearly 30,000 dollars Monday night.

Attendees were able to vote on their favorite dishes. The 'People's Choice Awards' winners were Pattie's Tiny Cakes for the Sweet Creation Award. Zoup won Tastiest Soup, Colorado Legacy Coffee won Tastiest Beverage by a single vote and Cowboy and The Rose Catering won in three categories, Tastiest Dish, Best Theme and Overall Taste.
