Four hunters charged for various violations of hunting law

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) UPDATE: The four men arrested for violating a variety of hunting laws have been charged and fined.

George Plummer, James Cole, Jospeh Nevling, and Michael Courtney were all forced to give up all items related to the case, including any killed game, and were fined between $1,000 and $2,600 respectively.

Four men have been arrested on suspicion of illegal hunting.

After a lengthy investigation, Colorado Parks and Wildlife Officials say on Saturday night four men from South Carolina have been detained on suspicion of illegal hunting.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife has arrested and charged four men from South Carolina suspected of violating a variety of wildlife laws, including the use of poisons and toxicants with their archery equipment, hunting black bears over bait, hunting after legal hunting hours and illegal possession of big game wildlife.

The suspects, George R. Plummer, 51 and Joseph Nevling, 50 both of Timmonsville, Michael C. Courtney, 25 of Florence, and James Cole, 55 from Sumter were arrested at their hunt camp in the Brush Creek area east of Collbran, Saturday evening, Sept. 7.
