Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – Fruita is becoming a hot spot for locally brewed beer with a new brewery opening up.

The Copper Club Brewing Company is located on Aspen Street, featuring beer and homemade root beer -- no food.

However, the owner says you can bring in food. The company has five flagship beers on tap and a copper penny bar, which the owners built from scratch.

"Great to have a place like this in Fruita. It's not really like a bar atmosphere. It's kind of laid back, a lot of friends hanging out, really quality beer. You can tell they really care about what they are doing, so yeah, it's great," says Brendan Swihart, a local customer.

The Copper Club is now open but a grand opening with a ribbon cutting is planned for at 2 p.m. on Jan. 18. The public is invited and asked to wear your favorite hat to get your picture taken for the wall of fame.
