Grand Junction, Colo. – The Grand Valley Combined Honor Guard will celebrate its ten-year anniversary of providing military funeral honors to deceased veterans across Mesa County. A dinner of the milestone will be held at Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Members of the Honor Guard serve on a strictly volunteer basis and they represent five branches of military service.

The GVCHG was founded in late 2003 by Dick Gigliotti, Rhy Paris, Ken Largent and Ron Graham. It was formally deployed in January 2004 for the primary purpose of providing military honors. The Honor Guard has also participated in parades, flag presentations and educational forums in area schools during the past ten years.

Now the Honor Guard is commanded by Bob Henderson of Grand Junction and currently consists of 46 members.

Veterans of Foreign Wars is located at 1404 Ute Avenue.
