Grand Junction celebrates the Avalon flag topping ceremony

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Now entering into the final phases of renovation, the community came together on Friday to place an american flag on on the highest point of construction on the avalon theatre.

Structural steel framing is now complete with only interior and exterior walls left to go on the theatre's new wing.

""It's going to be great for Grand Junction. it's going to be a stimulus for our economy and it's going to make us a center for arts and performing arts."

Due to funding delays, the theatre's opening has been pushed back to September of 2014.

The construction budget for the theatre has been readjusted to $9.6 million dollars which is coming from both public and private funding.

The Avalon Foundation is still looking to raise $500,000 more dollars to help with construction fees, and community contributions are greatly appreciated.
