Grand Junction, Colo (KKCO) --- The Colorado Health Foundation has awarded the Mesa County Health Department a $1.1 million grant to aid in a clinical expansion.
Currently, the Health Department only offers family planning and immunization services and with the money, they hope to expand their services for uninsured and underinsured residents to become more like a primary care doctors office.
Mesa County Health Department Executive Director, Jeff Kuhr, said this is a three year grant and initial meetings with begin to make plans within the next week, but he believes construction will only take one year to complete.
The Health Department has five priorities to address including parenting, transportation, social and emotional well being, access to the services clinic and building a sense of community, which are goals this grant will help meet.
