GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) When veterans return from war, they often return with scars... Some of them visible, some of them internal.
But one local group is doing their part to help our warriors ease back into enjoying life as a civilian.
Base Camp 40 is a veterans hunting organization that was started right here in Grand Junction, and on Monday they welcomed their first guest of the season.
"We stay in contact with the guys even we had the first year and they want to say 'oh you guys are lifesavers,'" says BC 40 founder, Paul Bristol. "It's not us, it's our duty to serve them."
When former Navy Corpsman Nick Tubbs arrived at the airport Monday morning, he was greeted by several members of BC 40 and local veterans.
Officials with Base Camp 40 say as the veterans immerse themselves in the experience, all of the outside pressures just fade into the background.
